Gianna Detoni
President and Founder

Gianna Detoni

With over 20 years of experience in the field, Gianna is one of the leading experts of resilience and business continuity worldwide. She is the BCI Global Industry Personality of 2017 and an Approved Instructor of the Business Continuity Institute. She has founded and was the Chair of the BCI Women in Resilience Global Group until August 2020. 

Gianna is the author of many articles on the topics related to continuity and resilience and is one of the key contributors to the development of the BCI Good Practice Guidelines, the reference manual for resilience professionals.

She is a Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (FBCI), the highest membership grade of the BCI, and certified by the Institute of Risk Management (IRM). 

Gianna and PANTA RAY represent Italy in the ISO technical committees focused on “Continuity and organizational resilience”. She has participated in the development and review of various ISOs and currently is the project leader of the committee reviewing the ISO/TS 22318 – Supply Chain Continuity Management.

Since 2009, she is President of PANTA RAY, an international training and management consulting firm specialized in the disciplines of organizational resilience. Previously, she has worked for over 30 years for JPMorgan Chase Bank covering senior international positions in Technology and Operations Management, Risk Resiliency and Operational Risk Management.

Outside of work: In her personal life, Gianna has a passion for promoting the role of women in the business. She participates in many initiatives to encourage young women in the quest of reaching equal opportunities. She likes to read, walk and she enjoys her family as much as possible.

Chief Executive Officer and General Manager

Alberto Mattia

Alberto is a passionate contributor to the continuity and resilience industry. As a member of the ISO/TC 292 – WG2 and the working group for the update of the BCI Good Practice Guidelines (2018 edition), he is actively engaged in the writing of international standards and best practices.

He is also an author of several articles, papers and research reports, and is often invited to attend international conferences, webinars and events as a speaker.

Alberto is a Member of the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI), a BCI Approved Instructor and an IRMCert professional (issued by the Institute of Risk Management). He served in the BCI Risk and Governance Committee for three years until May 2019 and as the BCI Italy Forum Deputy Leader for four years until December 2018.

In his current role as Chief Executive Officer at PANTA RAY, Alberto guides and supports large organizations across many industries in developing effective business continuity management systems and in achieving their resilience objectives.

Outside of Work: Alberto enjoys karting and spends a fair share of his free time competing in a track nearby Milan. Watching sports is also one of his passions and you really don’t want to argue with him when he claims to be the greatest supporter of A.C. Milan, Valentino Rossi, and Roger Federer. Stand-up comedy specials, Friends (tv show) and travelling with his wife are his getaways from stress.

Head of Business

Paola Scotto di Frega

Paola graduated in International Affairs with a minor in Economics from John Cabot University in 2013 and began her career in the U.S. Department of State at the Embassy in Rome. In 2014, Paola lived for one year in Madrid, where she worked in the finance and accounting department of Daimler Group AG. Through her work experience in Daimler, she had the opportunity to become business proficient in Spanish.

In 2015, Paola moved to Milan for Stantec – a listed multinational consulting firm active in the field of environmental engineering – where she coordinated projects of corporate social responsibility (key account managed: NBC Universal).

At PANTA RAY since 2017, Paola is responsible for the business department, composed of three main offices – business development, training, and consulting. In her role, she leads a team of four resources, is the primary point of contact for clients and partners and is in charge of numerous projects for Italian and international organizations.

Outside of work: Paola has a genuine passion for food and all that is related to the food industry. Besides enjoying life with her boyfriend, friends and family, Paola takes care of her own project – Fairbag, a luxury handbags rental website.

Head of Research and Intelligence

Gianluca Riglietti

Gianluca joined PANTA RAY in 2019 with the goal to develop a brand-new research function on business continuity and resilience disciplines. After a couple of years, PANTA RAY has now strengthened its role as thought leader and innovator in the industry.

Previously, Gianluca used to work as Research Manager at the Business Continuity Institute, where he authored well-known publications such as the Horizon Scan Survey, Emergency Communications, Cyber Resilience and Supply Chain Resilience reports for four years. He is an experienced public speaker who has delivered talks for audiences in Europe, North America, Australasia, and Africa.

Since joining PANTA RAY, he has been working on the synergies between business continuity and other disciplines, such as sustainability, insurance, and supply chain. His work leverages strong academic connections with several universities around the world, especially with the Polytechnic School of Milan, where he is currently an Executive PhD student. The focus of his main thesis is the impact of business continuity management systems on supply chain resilience. His background is also rooted in international relations and security, which he studied at John Cabot University, the London School of Economics and King’s College London.

Gianluca holds a Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute.

Outside of Work: Outside of PANTA RAY, you are likely to find him on a tennis court where he competes in local tournaments, although he will rarely miss the friendly Sunday doubles at his local club. Other than that, he always enjoys a good book and having a stroll around the Colosseum in central Rome, his hometown.

Head of Operations

Giovanni Cardin

In his role, Giovanni is responsible for the effective and successful management of the company’s overall operating engine. His tasks range from ensuring safe and efficient operations, taking care of procurement activities and information security systems, to the maintenance of PANTA RAY’s internal business continuity and risk management programmes.

Outside of Work: in his spare time, Giovanni plays sports and travels to different countries to experience new cultures. He enjoys his hobbies especially because it allows him to spend time with other people.

Consulting Supervisor

Jacopo Capparelli

Jacopo Michael Capparelli is Consulting Supervisor at PANTA RAY – Italy’s leading business continuity services provider – and has acquired significant experience in the fields of organizational resilience, crisis management, and business continuity.

At the firm since 2018, he has worked with many different kinds of organizations, both public and private, in many different sectors. His focus for the past years has been on the banking, financial services, oil and gas, retail and distribution, and insurance industries. In his capacity as the operational lead of PANTA RAY’s consulting team, he has designed and delivered business continuity strategies and solutions to PANTA RAY clients, marrying methodological rigor with pragmatic flexibility.

Technical leadership of PANTA RAY’s reselling is also part of his portfolio. PANTA RAY partners with premier market solutions for business continuity and critical event management and, as part of its reselling services, is called to help clients implement these solutions. Training and advising clients on the best ways to integrate these tools in existing programs gives Jacopo great experience in liaising with high-level stakeholders to design effective and enduring business continuity and crisis management solutions.

Outside of work: When Jacopo isn’t at work, he tries to get to the beach as often as he can. His idea of a perfect day is swimming in the ocean in the morning and having good tacos for lunch. He also enjoys reading.

Consulting Associate

Godwin Chionna

Godwin joined PANTA RAY’s consulting team as Consulting Analyst in 2019, and is now Consulting Associate.

His path in the resiliency industry kicked off with the CBCI certification, obtained with merit right after joining PANTA RAY. Since then, he has been active in supporting large Italian and international corporations in all the activities in the lifecycle of a business continuity management system.

His consulting activities range from guiding companies in preparing their business continuity policy, to setting up training and awareness sessions on organizational resilience, to carrying out Business Impact Analysis and discussing business continuity strategies and plans. He is also engaged in writing scripts for crisis scenario simulations, aiding the top management of PANTA RAY’s clients boost their crisis management preparedness.  Furthermore, he is one of PANTA RAY’s experts in resilience-software. As such, he is involved in supporting clients find their best way in using the software tools of our partners Everbridge and Castellan Solutions. He guides clients in the implementation of our solutions, and provides after sales technical support.

Godwin’s work to improve corporations’ resilience is complemented by his support in developing a set of innovative e-learning courses to spread awareness on the world of organizational resilience.

Outside of work: Godwin is very passionate about language learning and enjoys keeping his French and Spanish proficiency alive, by speaking, reading and watching movies in these languages. He is also into football and has been coaching young teams for 6 years now. 

Business Development Associate

Umberto Cucchi

Umberto joined PANTA RAY as Business Development Associate in 2020. He contributes to all the account management duties of PANTA RAY, ranging from early negotiation stages to final contractual aspects with clients – both at the national and international level. He also takes care of the coordination process related to marketing and communication by designing, planning, and implementing marketing strategies and campaigns for the firm.

Prior to joining PANTA RAY, Umberto worked at the several international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Energy Council, where he had the chance to engage directly with key members and stakeholders of these organizations. Umberto holds a Bachelor of Arts from John Cabot University and a Master of Arts from King’s College London.

Outside of Work: Umberto has two great passions: Sports (especially football – the one where you use your foot to kick the ball) and travelling (whether it is an unexplored village in the Italian countryside or far-away destination on the other side of the globe).

Business Development Assistant

Gaia De Toma

Gaia contributes to both marketing and sales activities. As far as marketing tasks are concerned, she works especially on: planning and implementing strategies in the short-medium term, managing web assets (both company website and social media platforms), designing marketing campaigns and also focusing email marketing, data analysis and reporting. For what concerns sales activities, she contributes in prospecting and identifying new opportunities to build and maintain a healthy pipeline, introducing opportunities to customers, arranging economic quotations and managing negotiation processes. She works closely with the Business team to ensure end-to-end service delivery.

Gaia graduated in Marketing and Business administration at the John Cabot University, an American university based in Rome. 

Outside of work: outside of PANTA RAY, Gaia has a passion for languages. She speaks three languages fluently, English, Spanish, and France. Also, she really enjoys travelling, meeting new people, and stepping out of her comfort zone.

HR and Finance Associate

Elisa Asteria

Elisa joined the team in 2018.

Over the past three years, Elisa has been dealing with financial and human resources activities. Recently, in 2021, she was also appointed to take care of the Quality Management system of the company, in compliance with ISO:9001 certification, which PANTA RAY obtained in 2018.

One year after joining the team, in 2019, Elisa has completed her master degree in Marketing & Corporate Communication.

Elisa is also certified with the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI).

Outside of Work: in her free time, Elisa enjoys reading, visiting new places and eating out. When she isn’t busy in these activities, you’re most likely to find her running or playing other sports.
